Reacting to Indian army chief’s recent comments about Pakistan, the Foreign Office on Thursday cautioned him to be ‘careful’ with his comments.
“The Indian army chief should be careful with his comments,” Foreign Office spokesman Dr Faisal told a weekly press briefing here. He also condemned the atrocities being committed by the Indian forces in Held Kashmir. “Pakistan condemns the atrocities by Indian forces in Kashmir. We hail the efforts of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which conveyed firm support to Kashmiris,” he said, after the OIC released a statement following the assassination of Kashmiri leader Hafizullah Mir by the occupying forces.
On the prime minister’s recent two-day visit to Malaysia, Dr Faisal said bilateral talks were held to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia. “Discussion over how to combat terrorism together by both the countries was also held,” he added.
The spokesman said Pakistan has not received any information from Afghanistan regarding the murder of Superintendent of Police Tahir Khan Dawar. “No information has been received so far from Afghanistan regarding the cop’s murder … investigation into the incident is, however, under way in Pakistan,” he said.
The spokesman said Pakistan responded to US President Donald Trump’s tweet to ‘set the record straight’. Pakistan provided intelligence assistance to the United States to crack down against al Qaeda terrorists, he noted. “We are aware of the US contacts with the Taliban and we welcome the efforts being made,” he added.
